The first ever patient-centred trial of the drug has found the treatment to be effective for many patients with erectile dysfunction. One study in the journalPharmacoepidemiolpublished a detailed analysis of the drug’s safety and effectiveness in these patients.
The trial involved patients who had been taking sildenafil for at least three months and who were diagnosed with erectile dysfunction by their doctor. One of the patients had been taking the drug for about four months, and was taking it for erectile dysfunction for a year, before taking it. They were asked to complete a questionnaire and were given instructions on how to take it. They then went on to have a clinical trial of sildenafil, and then a follow-up visit at two subsequent sites to assess their response to treatment. At one follow-up visit, the patients were given an information sheet. They were then given the drug for three months. The trial’s authors concluded that the drug showed “a very good safety profile in patients with ED who do not respond to conventional therapies.”
The drugs are available by prescription only, and their use is not recommended for those who are unable to take sildenafil (Cialis, Viagra, Levitra, Revatio). In addition, there is no data to suggest that taking sildenafil is safe or effective for use in patients with ED who are taking nitrates. The trial’s authors also found no statistically significant difference between the two treatment groups.
The study was funded by the South Africa Medical Research Foundation, the South African Government, and Pfizer Inc. (formerly GlaxoSmithKline).

The clinic was established in 1994 and the study was sponsored by Pfizer Inc. (formerly GlaxoSmithKline) and Pfizer was an independent pay-for-delay insurance company. The trial was designed to assess the effects of sildenafil on erectile function in men with erectile dysfunction.
The trial was conducted in men aged 18 to 64 years who had erectile dysfunction. It involved 50 patients with erectile dysfunction. Each patient was randomized to one of two treatment groups: an active control group that included a placebo group and an inactive control group that was given sildenafil. The placebo group received a single dose of 100 mg sildenafil and the active control group received a placebo. In the active control group, sildenafil was added to the placebo group and the sildenafil was then taken for three months. In the inactive control group, sildenafil was taken for a minimum of six months and then a second sildenafil dose was taken. The men were followed up for six months. The primary endpoint of the study was to assess the proportion of patients who developed erections (defined as at least one erection within a three-month period) and to assess the extent of ED that occurred in the placebo group. In addition, the investigators were asked to assess the extent of ED that occurred in the sildenafil-treated patients who were not taking the drug and who were taking nitroglycerin.
In the active control group, sildenafil was taken three times daily, with sildenafil taken at the same time each day. In the inactive control group, sildenafil was taken three times daily with sildenafil taken at the same time each day. All patients were required to have no medical or other ongoing medical conditions or medications that could cause these changes in any of the groups.
1.Nitrates (e.g., nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate): Cialis and nitrates both lower blood pressure. Taking them together can cause a significant and potentially life-threatening drop in blood pressure (hypotension), leading to dizziness, fainting, or even heart attack or stroke. It is contraindicated to use Cialis with nitrates or recreational "poppers" (amyl nitrites).
2.Alpha-blockers (e.g., prazosin, terazosin, tamsulosin): Both Cialis and alpha-blockers relax blood vessels, which can lead to excessive blood pressure reduction when used together. This may result in dizziness, fainting, or orthostatic hypotension (a sudden drop in blood pressure when standing). If needed, your doctor may adjust the dosage or recommend spacing the medications.
3.Other antihypertensive drugs (e.g., atenolol, propranolol, enalapril, lisinopril): Cialis can enhance the blood-pressure-lowering effects of these medications. While this interaction is usually less severe than with nitrates or alpha-blockers, it can still cause dizziness or fainting in sensitive individuals. Close monitoring of blood pressure is recommended.
Cialis (tadalafil) can interact with certain foods and beverages, potentially altering its effectiveness or increasing the risk of side effects. Here are the key drug-food interactions to be aware of:
Long-term use of prescription nitrates and alpha-blockers can cause long-term side effects that include:
Prazosin, tamsulosin, or other drug-food interactions like Cialis can potentiate the blood pressure-lowering effects of nitrates and alpha-blockers.
A new report from San Francisco’s National Center for Health Research says that the prevalence of erectile dysfunction is on the rise among men in the U. S., but that the prevalence of other conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure are on the rise. The report found that the prevalence of erectile dysfunction in men with erectile dysfunction was on the rise in 2023, with Viagra, Levitra and Cialis now accounting for nearly 85% of all prescriptions filled in the U. S. last year. Cialis, the brand name for the active ingredient in Cialis, is the most popular drug for treating erectile dysfunction, and is marketed by Pfizer. It is also widely available in tablet form, with some pharmacies selling it as a liquid or as a liquid suspension. Cialis is approved for use in the U. but is not covered by most insurance plans, so it may be a good fit for some pharmacies. Viagra and Levitra are both used to treat erectile dysfunction, but some are more common in patients with diabetes.
Sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra, is a PDE5 inhibitor, which increases blood flow to the penis by relaxing the muscles in the walls of blood vessels. However, the PDE5 inhibitor does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases like HIV and syphilis. It does not protect against HIV, a sexually transmitted infection, or hepatitis C, a disease that affects nearly 50 million Americans. Sildenafil is available as a generic drug, but it’s the brand name for the active ingredient of Viagra.
A study of 4,500 men with erectile dysfunction found that erectile dysfunction is on the rise among men in the U. S., but that the prevalence of other conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure are on the rise in 2023. The study, which involved men from 40 countries, included data from over 10,000 men who visited their doctors to assess erectile dysfunction and other health problems. The study found that the prevalence of erectile dysfunction was on the rise in 2023, with Viagra, Levitra and Cialis accounting for nearly 85% of all prescriptions filled in the U. Viagra and Levitra are both approved for use in the U. but are also marketed by Pfizer. Cialis is the brand name for the active ingredient in Cialis. It is also commonly available in tablet form, with some pharmacies selling it as a liquid or as a liquid suspension.
Cialis is the brand name for the active ingredient of Cialis, the drug that is also prescribed to treat erectile dysfunction. It works by blocking an enzyme that causes the smooth muscle cells in the penis to relax, allowing the arteries to fill with blood and create an erection.
